Experimental Action began as a biennial, international performance art festival, founded with Jonatan Lopez, Evan McCarley, and Jana Whatley in 2016.
Now, this evolving and expanding project is directed by Julia Wallace as a community-creating social sculpture that extends to monthly events and a conference. It is led in collaboration with an incredible management team consisting of Houston artists, for more information click to visit the website. Photo features Peter Clough during ExA 2017.
Performance Art on Instagram (@PerformanceArtHouston on instagram) is a series of curated performance art shows utilizing instagram as a platform. For each curated show, individual artists take up residency in Performance Art Houston's Instagram account and facilitate performances and gestures as their works within the show. During each show, the account passes hands to a new artist each week and begins their performances. Past curators included Joy Harris and Brandon Zech. This project was created and facilitated by Julia.
Julia founded and created Continuum alongside Jonatan Lopez in 2011.
A social sculpture created with the intention to provide an encouraging and safe atmosphere for each other as well as the community to explore and express themselves through the medium of performance art.
Julia was one of the founding members of Houston's most mischievous art collectives,
Performance Art Lab, creators of the viral youtube sensation sexyATTACK. Performance Art Lab itself was originally conceived and facilitated by artist Elia Arce.
